...No more inflation at Þorbjörn...

Inflation in the area west of Þorbjörn has decreased significantly in the last week. No inflation increase has been measured on the Meteorological Office's GPS meters for the past three to four days.

Seismic activity in the area has also decreased significantly, but according to Lovísa Mjallar Guðmundsdóttir, a nature conservation specialist at the Meteorological Office, the last earthquake over magnitude 3 was measured in the area on 29 May.

The level of civil protection uncertainty remains in force From April 28 to May 28, the land rose by a total of 5.0-5.5 centimeters and was followed by significant seismic activity. In the last few days, about 150 up to 300 earthquakes have been measured in the area, while almost 800 earthquakes were measured per day at its peak. The Meteorological Office 's website states that in light of this, the flight color code for the area has been changed to green from yellow. However, the level of civil protection uncertainty is still valid.

According to Lovísa, it can not be ruled out that the activity may increase again and occur in cycles. There is still considerable activity throughout the Reykjanes peninsula.
