Melissa Anne Pfeffer, specialist of the Icelandic Meteorological Office in the field of ash and chemical distribution, went on a day trip to one of the cauldrons connected to the volcano in Bárðarbunga. There she worked with several of the Icelandic Meteorological Office's experts on gas measurements in the geothermal area, which was revealed after the eruption in 2015.
