Earthquakes: Week overview 19 March-1 April


19 March-25 March: More than 400 earthquakes were located with the SIL measuring system of the Icelandic Meteorological Office this week, less than the previous week when more than 540 earthquakes were detected. More activity was under Vatnajökull, especially in Öræfajökull this week, but the last, but smaller in the north. The largest earthquake of the week was 4.3 at Bárðarbunga on March 21 at 22:56. One quake was measured at Hekla.

26 March-1 April: More than 460 earthquakes were located with the SIL metering system of the Icelandic Meteorological Office this week, a little more than the week before when more than 400 earthquakes were detected. Less activity was under Vatnajökull this week than the last, but much more in the north. The largest earthquake of the week was 3.8, about 50 km N of Siglufjordur, on March 31 at 9:35. On April 1 at. 13:33 was a tremor of 3.2 in the north of the Bárðarbunga caldera. One quake was measured at Hekla.
