Around 1600 earthquakes were located and reviewed this week by the Icelandic Met Office. It is probable thought that the real count of earthquakes is close to 4000 to 5000. The largest part of these earthquakes were a part of a swarm that has been ongoing on a 20 km long area that lies NW-SE, 5 km E of Grímsey. The largest earthquake detected this week was a M4.1 in that swarm on the eve of 15 February. Additionally, around 30 earthquakes of magnitude 3 to 4 were located in this swarm this week. The largest earthquakes outside the Grímsey swarm were M3.4 on the tip of the Reykjanes Peninsula and a M3.0 on the Kolbeinsey ridge, 150km N of Grímsey. In the beginning of the week, a swarm was detected just 5 km E of Selfoss. That swarm counted around 70 earthquakes. There of was largest a M2.0 aroun half past 7, the morning of the 13th of February.
