Around 500 earthquakes were detected last week by the SIL seismic network at the Icelandic Meteorological Office. The largest earthquake of last week was of magnitude M3.6 in Öræfajökull on February 9th. Around 70 earthquakes were detected in Öraefajokull, most earthquakes smaller than M2.3. An earthquake swarm started Northeast of Grimsey at noon on February 8th. Two small earthquakes were detected in Mt. Hekla last week.
