Around 300 earthquakes were detected last week by the SIL seismic network at the Icelandic Meteorological Office. The largest earthquakes last week measured of magnitude M3.5, the former on 15th of January in Bardarbunga on January 15th and the second on the 21st, northeast of Grindavík. The latter earthquake was well felt in the town of Grindavík and 12 reports from the online detection form, were received. 18th of January an earthquake M3.1 was measured in the north-eastern Öræfajökull caldera rim and around 25 minor earthquakes were detected in the volcano this past week.
