A comparison of LANDSAT-8 images (NASA & USGS) from today (10.12.2017) and 17.11.2017. The cauldron has widened and a pattern of crevasses has become denser and clearer. In general, LANDSAT-8 images are not acquired when the solar angle is low (december-january in the Northern Hemisphere at high latitudes), but NASA & USGS have made this possible for the University of Iceland and the Icelandic Meteorological Office, in order to monitor the volcano during the darkest months.
